Can you remember the last time you danced? Over the last handful of decades it seems like our Westernized beings have forgotten how to move. Like sediment at the bottom of the ocean, we sway with the current but rarely do we ride with the waves, flow with the wind and let ourselves be swept away with the beauty of our body’s ability to move. When you hear music that inspires, how does it move you?
Move able. Learning how to dance is not just for those who are young and choose it as a part of their schedule of activities. “If you have the ability to move, you have the ability to dance.” Its something that releases tension, joy, community and healing. There are few “stages” in life that let us express emotion and connect with something greater than ourselves. A kitchen floor, grass outdoors or sand by the water are all open studios awaiting your footprint to move on them.
Come Move. Commove, a transitive verb, when defined means: to rouse intense feeling in : excite to passion. Enable yourself to connect with what matters through movement. As a dance school, we sometimes forget that at the heart of what we do, is the innate sense that we have to do this to survive. To dance is to breathe. To breathe is to live…you simply can’t live deeply without it.
